What's a credit limit increase?

Your credit limit is the maximum balance you can spend up to on your credit card. A credit limit increase may come in handy if you're planning to make a big purchase that you want to repay over time, if you're combining all your credit card debts into one to make repayments easier, or if you would simply like to have more funds available in case of an emergency.

Should you apply for a credit limit increase?

ANZ asks that you seriously consider your financial situation before applying for a credit limit increase. Increasing your credit card limit could potentially lead to an increase in your credit card debt and also your minimum monthly repayments.

To help protect customers from over extending themselves financially, ANZ has developed a Responsible Lending Policy.

Apply for a credit limit increase now

You can apply for a credit limit increase simply by following one of these options:

1. Use ANZ Internet Banking - select 'Cards' from the left-hand menu and then choose 'Request to Change Credit Card Limit' and follow the prompts.
2. Call ANZ on 13 22 73, we'll be happy to help and if approved, your new credit limit should be available within 24 hours.
   (International call +61 3 9683 9999).
3. Complete the request Credit Limit Increase/Decrease Application (100kb). If approved, your new credit limit increase should be available within 21 days.
   

Credit limit increases are subject to ANZ's normal credit approval criteria.

Reducing the credit limit on your credit card is a great way to help you stay on budget and avoid overspending. You can request a credit limit decrease using ANZ Internet Banking, by calling us on 13 22 73 or by filling out the Credit Limit Increase/Decrease Application (100kb).
